Basilisk's Pavilion
Basilisk's Pavilion is an infamous part of the ruins of Telebessir, nested deep within the tangled, wrecked depths of the city. It was the site of what could have been the final battle for the capital city of Televassa, but instead became the site of a massacre when Tiilsden mages summoned a basilisk and caught the Telebessite city guard by surprise.
Purpose / Function
Basilisk's Pavilion was originally the city square of Telebessir, connecting all of its many roads and walkways. It contained numerous picturesque statues and gardens, as well as prime real estate residences and stores. The main escalator to the lower levels was located here, as well as Telebessir's central, highest tower. Beneath the pavilion was the city's central subway station.
Alterations
Currently, many of the statues and gardens lie in ruins, while the escalators, elevators, and subways are all, naturally, immobile and decaying. The most prominent change, and its namesake, are the one hundred and fifty-eight life-sized stone figures that occupy its center - formerly the Telebessite city guard, as well as more than a few civilians. They stand in various states of battle-readiness and panic, and some are well-preserved enough to show the fear or surprise on their faces, thousands of years after the fact. The captain of the city guard, Silka, stands at the very front, and is one of the few not showing fear, in fact.
