Lord
A title used throughout the Angapor Gulf and neighboring regions. A lord holds power and rule over land inheirited through their father.
Duties
A lord is given command of a region, no matter how big or small, they must protect their people. While this is expected of Lords, their is nothing to stop them from abandoning their people. Except the fear of a peasent revolt if they become too famish and poor.
History
In the old days, before the nations and countries, men lived in towns and cities and they were ruled by a King. When one of these Kings would grow bold enough and take over another Kings lands, often, the previous King would be killed, but also common, they would be demoted to a Lord in service of their new King. The term Lord now simply refers to someone who owns large lands, at least a single settlement.
Cultural Significance
Lords can be found both great and small. There are those who own single keeps, and those who reign over a third of a country. Lords, like Kings, are respected and often feared as well.
