The Rat King of Dellfield

The Rat King of Dellfield is the emperor of rats which lives in the sewers beneath Dellfield. They exist as a hive mind of hundreds of rats conjoined in macabre ways. The Rat King is known as a trader of secrets, having ears and eyes in all places rats can travel.

Personal history

It is said that, long ago, Dellfield was constructed above the ruins of another city, with that city becoming an unexplored expanse of crypts, catacombs, and sewers. As magics, alchemical contaminants, and more flowed into this area, several rats became fused, and slowly found themselves gaining consciousness as one whole being. Each time one died, it would quickly be cannibalized and replaced. In this way, the Rat King has reigned with memories since this beginning of their gaining sentience.
Because of this, they have become known as a trader and keeper of secrets, having coalesced the memories and knowledge from all rats who make up their form, and commanding others out to see the world around them, and return with constant reports. The Rat King trades such secrets only by trading secrets considered of equal value.
