cecaelia
Cecaelia, also known as octopus or squid people, are aquatic octopod humanoids. For the most part they are solitary, preferring dark and secluded locales over larger towns and cities, although this is not the case for all cecaelia.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Cecaelia have a number of tentacles sprouting from beneath their torso, but are typically otherwise very similar to merfolk or even humans from the torso upward.
Individuals can change color to blend seemlessly into aquatic backgrounds and can expel ink if frightened. Additionally, their tentacles' suction cups are extremely powerful.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Cecaelia have distributed nervous systems, instead of singular brains as many other humanoids do. This means that losing a limb or tentacle may result in losing memories, but it also means that even beheading a cecaelia may not result in its death.
Individuals have eyes highly sensitive to light, meaning cecaelia tend to be nocturnal.
Civilization and Culture
Common Myths and Legends
It is said that cecaelia were the first sea witches.
