Salt-fruits

A delicacy, and favorite especially among children, the Salt-fruit is the staple fruit of Kaiyocea. Composing of a greenish-blue oval shape, and white, tender flesh, the Salt-fruit is sold year-round and on every street corner alongside more exotic fruits. Kaiyoceans on their way to work will often grab a grilled salt-fruit as breakfast, and stands selling candy salt-fruits set up shop outside of schools. The fruit itself, when eaten plain, is unsurprisingly, salty. Yet it also presents a slightly sweet flavor akin to a plum. Cooking the fruit dampens the saltiness and allows the sweet aftertaste to shine, while coating it with caramel or candy creates an unforgettable desert.
