Folks and Humanoid Species

In Ealamkha’fif, humanoid life has long since intermingled, and most people have ancestry of at least two folk within them. For simplicity, most people choose to identify with a particular folk, usually the one that they have the most traits of.
Humanfolk - Simultaneously the most and least common folk in the realm, almost all people have human blood in them, but the human traits are often overtaken by other folk’s, usually being recessive. Still, humans are ingenuitive, enduring and adaptive.
Anima-folk - Anima are similar to humans in biology, but also share traits with animals, commonly manifesting as secondary ears, tails, fur or scales, odd pupils, or pointed teeth. However, Anima have a wide variety of subgroups, and there really isn’t any singular set of characteristics for Anima. Beyond type, Anima often vary in the amount of animal traits they have.
Elf-folk - Elf-folk all have pointed ears and generally taller and slimmer builds than humans, but there are a few varieties Sea - Additional gills, webbed hands and feet and blue to green tinged skin. Cave/Dark - Usually have tremorsense, extremely light pupils, and gray to ebony skin Wood - Are generally as varied in appearance as humans. Desert - Sandpaper-like skin, even larger ears, and skin flecked with gold or bronze.
Dwarf-folk - Dwarf-folk are shorter folk with a hardy constitution. They’re well suited for mining and exploring with exceptional senses and a more compact build. Some dwarves even possess tremorsense and bioluminescence.
Orcfolk - Tall with wide shoulders and large tusk-like teeth, orc-folk are naturally strong and tough. They have rough skin, often tinged with green or ash, and flatter noses.
Devilfolk - Devilfolk are descended from the long-vanished devils. However, this doesn’t mean that Devilfolk are any more evil or villainous than other species, instead simply possessing reddish, blue, or pale skin, with horns and a tail that sometimes have venom. They often are of the same general height and weight variety as humans.
Goblinfolk - A small folk with very big and pointed ears. They have green toned skin and possess excellent hardiness.
Demonfolk - Demonfolk are like Devilfolk, descended instead from Demons. Demons tended to be a bit more outlandish, and Demonfolk share these features, sometimes having extra limbs, hardened natural armor and are generally larger folk then their Devilfolk cousins.
Angelfolk - There exist myths and legends about actual angels, but no records, unlike Devils and Demons. However, Angelfolk are very much real, similar to Humans or Elf-folk in size and shape, but with spectral crystalline wings that can grant flight, and an ever-present halo.
Faeriefolk - Small folk, no larger than 40 cm high with insectile wings, Faeriefolk appear similar to Elf-folk or Humans, at a much smaller scale. They thrive on sunlight, and being in the dark for too long can have negative effects on mood and energy.
Gnomefolk - Almost as small as Faeriefolk, but lacking in wings, Gnomefolk are a speedy and clever folk who have a natural appreciation and aptitude for nature. They possess excellent vision in the dark, have vocal cords that can replicate animal cries, and can easily blend into undergrowth.
Merfolk - Not to be confused with some Aquatic Anima, merfolk are a water-dwelling folk that possess gills, large dark eyes, and fish-like tails in place of legs. In past times, they’ve been limited to Kaiyocea, but thanks to Magi-mechanics, Merfolk are finding their way across land and sky as well.
Spiritfolk - Descended from fully Spiritual beings, most common in Terr’aina, Spiritfolk are rare and odd. They’re traits are as varied as the spirit that they’re descended from, with some being shapechangers such as Kitsune, while others are similar to nature spirits like Dryads or Aeravan Cloud Spirits.
Greater Slimes - Most Slimes are nuisances, being considered pests or even monsters. Greater Slimes are a subspecies that are completely sapient creatures, often forming into humanoid forms and choosing to live among humans. They are unique creatures that can assume a variety of forms and sizes, but often lack much strength or durability.
