Cloudburst Orchid

Cloudburst orchid are unique gliding vegetation usually colored blue-purple. They usually glide around air littered with isles, but are more well known for their unique behavior in storms. During storms, they survive by rolling their petals and leaves into a small round spherical shape, until it falls out of the storms. It will then unfurl and rise again, often rising into the same storm. After completely exiting the storm, the Cloudburst orchid will change color very suddenly - ranging from a muddy orange to a bright, fantastic red. It is said the number of times an orchid falls from the same storm determines how bright the color.

Those on the Terraina even know of this flower. They call them Rainseedlings - While on the ground they never change color, and are instead seen as an omen for sad things.

While certainly a beautiful sight to see after the storm in Aerava, the image is somewhat tainted for me now that I have stood beneath the clouds and seen them wilt and sadly fall from the sky. - Rook's Guide to the Realms
