War of the Burning Skies

For years, the war between the giants of the empire of Ostora and the great wyrms [of Azmatuul] has raged. The lands of Eadrana were set ablaze and armies trampled whatever remained. In the end, the War of the Burning Skies almost devoured the world...

The War of the Burning Skies is recorded as an all encompassing war primarily between the giants of Ostora and the dragons of Azmatuul.

Giants of Ostora

It's not clear how the cooperative the different giant factions worked within the ancient Ostora empire. However, it is clear that at least the fire giants, known for their mastery of great forges and craftsmanship, contributed the Vonindod to destroy the Azmatuul dragons. The Vonindod, its name translated in giant as 'Giant Death', was said to be a massive construct capable of killing dragons and slaying titans. Obsidian, especially its purest form and imbued with the hatred of fallen souls, was a key component in its construction, as well as adamantine.

Dragons of Azmatuul

At least two ancient dragons of the conflict are known. Akmavoth of the Vile Shadows and Crimson Siitura.

Voidbringer

An ancient and malevolent entity bent on the destruction of Eadrana and all of existence is said to have orchestrated the War of the Burning Skies, through powerful servants. The Voidbringer did not favor a side, but stood to reshape the world after its destruction in the war.

Consequences

The Ordning

The giants and their destructiveness during the War of the Burning Skies led to Annam the All Father, god of the giants, to impose a hierarchical social structure. Functioning as a caste system, the Ordning established that certain types of giant hold power and influence over other giants [smaller than them]. A symbol and enforcement of the Ordning and its binds, was King Hekaton seated upon the Wyrmskull Throne in Maelstrom. Its goal was to prevent another such war and its structure would also serve as a 'chain' to seal the Voidbringer within the heart of Eadrana.

Xhuveria

During the war, some giants and dragons consciously escaped the expectations of fighting against each other and left to found Xhuveria. Legend says a fire giant who was displeased with the behavior of other fire giants, ultimately joined an accord with 'people of scales, claws and dragons' fire' at the islands of Xhuveria.
A line of golden dragons has ruled Xhuveria for thousands of years, with Emperor Xhu the Third being the current ruler. Emperor Xhu has shared that their ancestors do include Akmavoth and Siitura, but speaks poorly of them and their hubris. Xhuveria is also a potent source of obsidian, but it is undetermined whether hiding away the islands and thus this resource was a purposeful intention.
