Dakeyra Character in Eacatis | World Anvil

Dakeyra

Dakeyra (a.k.a. Dak)

I swear it, I saw someone perched on the great rock talking to a skull.

- Farmer

Born in the elven town of Lelalone to a family with only moderate wealth and no importance, Dakeyra felt alone and outcast. Looking for more social interaction, Dakeyra made an unassailable bond with Aerith, another one of the few half-elves living in the town.

Over time the arrogant and pretentious nature of the other town inhabitants convinced the two to leave, fleeing into the wider world. On the road they were driven by wanderlust, feeling it with money gained by being petty crooks. Their short lives, by elven standards, made them anxious and drove them to explore it all, by any means necessary.

Many long nights were spent gazing at the star filled night sky, dreaming of an eternity spent together, for surely an eternity could be long enough to experience what the whole world had to offer.

Yet their criminal activities would eventually shatter their dreams. By the order of some lord, Aerith was slain as an example of what would happen to criminals. This broke Dakeyras heart and mind, replacing them with fury and anguish.

In the end it did not matter, for Dakeyra was unable to exact revenge. To mend the broken heart Dakeyra stole Aerith's head from the chopping block. Dakeyras mind never fully recovered, even when the lord was later found decapitated and robbed of his coin.

Soon rumours started to spread that the culprit lived in the mountains and could be seen on the clearest of nights, draped in black, muttering in foul tongues to their only companion, a human skull.
