Shellfolk / Tortles
Predominantly docile and private in nature, Shellfolk tend to live in isolated villages, although some of the more social and ambitious insividuals take to the cities to become tavernmasters, inkeepers, and shop owners. The Shellfolk culture centers around tradition, community, and respecting the Earth, and that is usually enough to keep the members of villages at home with their own people.
The Shellfolk live by their own version of the chivalric code, and even in war consider nobility and mercy more valuable than domination and destruction. Members of more stalwart species. such as the Durgir, often claim that the Shellfolk would be less docile were it not for the broad, dense shells which can shelter them from harm in battle...but they rarely claim such things in front of seasoned Shellfolk warriors, whose toughness and stature alone are enough to intimidate most.
