Linages and Mixed Bloods
The characters and people of E'ven-dra have spent many years intermingiling sence the days of tribalisum. Children of mixed blood go far beyond the norm of Half Elf or Half Orc. In the best way life finds a way when love and magic are quite prolific in the world. To this end players are encuraged to choose either the base races or cunsider chooseing to mix species. To that extent the "half races" mentioned here are more for the sake of history. After all Half Orcs and Half Elfs have a long held place in history and are what are called a recorded or common species.
To create a character of mixed heritage its simple, each species has a list of traits that are shared across all sub species. This includes things like, creature type, size and speed, but also abilities like bous proficencies, additional sences or magic these are the charcters core traits. Lets make a traditional Half Elf as an example as we go along, for simplisity lets say Elves is the dominant race. This means that this Half Elf gains the Core Traits (Fey Ancestory, Keen Sences, and Trance). You then choose a Subspecies as normal and gain the traits of that subspecies, also known as Sub Traits. For our example lets go with a Stone Elf, this would give our Half-elf the Stone Elfs Sub Traits (Deep Darkvison, Poison Resistance, Deep Road Servivor). All species then have a set a traits that are not common across the board these are your Lagacy Traits something that truly helps make the statment like "not all x have y" true. Using our Hlaf-Elf for example you may have noticed that elves are not naturaly able to see in the dark, granted ours can by the nature of them being a Half Stone Elf. However things like Darckvision are part of an elves Legacy Traits. No Mater what you get 2 Legacy traits but by playing a character of a mixed blood you gain the ability to choose from both your primay speices Lagacy Traits and the Mixed Bloodline Traits of the other. Often Mixed Bloodline Traits are a small list that are of that races "key" traits and and a Subspecies or Bloodline option, which gives you one of the abilities of a particular suspecies. Using Our Half-Elf, your other bloodline is Human this means that you can choose two traits from among the Elven Legacy Traits (Darkvission, Fey Eyes, Fey Magic, Skilled) or the Human Mixed Bloodline Traits (Bloodline).
A side note, it may be noticed that not all species have Legacy Traits. In these cases these speicies have a number of traits that make it hard to seperate them out into legacy choices. You are still encuraged to playaround with mixing bloodlins and making unique combos but these speices are dificult to mix if they are the base speices and as such cannot be used as the base race for a mixed blood character. You are still free to have a Elven Yuan-ti but the base race is going to have to be elf with yuan-ti traits.
