Uul'Khot
This large city lies in a hidden valley (Üyerkhöndii Valley) north of Azan in the Sunset Mountains. This valley is green and fertile, fed by mountain springs and its only accessible by finding the hidden pass from the heavily jungled region of Jacho (unless one can fly or teleport). The city was founded by and lived in primarily by orcs and half orcs and maybe a handful of others who found this place by mistake. There are some aarakocra that fly in to trade from time to time. The orcs prefer it to remain a secret and it's location is only generally known by some of the tabaxi and any orcs who have chosen to leave. Few do. It is a sheltered haven, safe from the war and strife and struggle the orcs of Uru and Sehirizan constantly face. They have farms here and orchards and a small mine in the north side of the valley which produces enough iron and copper to keep them from relying on outside sources.
Uul'Khot has been here for several hundreds of years now, originally founded by the tribe that stumbled into this valley by accident while fleeing through the jungle. Seeing it empty and for the taking, they never left. Uul'khot started as a village, one of the first real permanent orcish villages, and without exterior threats it bloomed and flourished into what it is now. Its existence is somewhat considered a rumor to the outsider tribes. Over the years some have come searching and were lucky enough to find it. Many others perished in the so-called Night Jungle one must cross through to reach the way in. The art and culture here is very unique, akin to what could have been if the orcs in the early days of the world had chosen to establish cities instead of remaining mostly nomadic. They even worship the orcish gods differently, seeing them as far more benign and helpful.
The city is still led by the family of the original Chieftain that brought the Ukhalag Tribe here, though he keeps a loyal counsel of advisors to assist him (or her, but sons are in line before daughters and so are most common). He or She co-rules along with the High Oracle, an individual chosen every generation for their unique bond to one of the orcish gods. In each generation, when the previous oracle dies, they hold a series of spiritual tests (The Zan-üil) to determine the next Dreamspeaker and it is them who interprets the will of the gods for their entire life. There have been a few times in history where there was no Dreamspeaker- no one came forth who could prove they heard the voices of the gods. It is tradition to wait one decade before holding the Zan-üil again.
