The Senja Coast
This region of northern coastal plains in Kharza is sometimes referred to as The Wild North (a play on the Wild South coast in Arna). Like the Wild South, The Senja Coast is a territory, unclaimed by any kingdom or country. The Senja coastline is significantly greener than the scrublands of Uru just southeast but it is also less forested than the jungles to the south and further down the coast. There is one heavy area of rainforest in the southern end of this designated region, called Najra's Heart, but it is not as deep and dangerous as the Ixil Rainforest (aka the Night Jungle) which the people of Senja have long avoided. The region is bordered to the east and south by the Ayanga Mountains and the Gunung Hills (Shuurga Hills to the tribes of Uru). The coastline follows a large water channel called the Sungai Channel which separates the mainland from the large Western Isles of the dragonborn and the volcanic isles of Ilvare. Apparently there are stories of a time when this channel was not a channel, but a large river (that is until the Event flooded much of the world). The towns here are sovereign but allied city-states similar to Namiza and are mostly composed of fishing and trade ports. They often serve as pitstops for dragonborn and tabaxi ships traveling the Sungai Channel to trade east in either Ilvare or on to Namiza.
Ports & Mines
The territory of Senja is largely populated by humans of Yuani descent, called the Tulen Darah, along with a healthy mixture of dragonborn immigrants, displaced dwarves, tabaxi, and the occasional tiefling or genasi from Ilvare. Half orcs aren't hard to find either. The two largest towns are the port of Tua Nilam, and the large town surrounded by forests which most people simply refer to as Dusk Valley, even though its original name was Senja. When the whole coast came to be called this, people began referring to the city based on the valley it was sitting in (so named for the fact that it lies in the shadow of the Spire Mountains for most of the day and only sees the sun around Dusk. It is bordered by Tinggi Vale to the north and and the Violet Wood to the south, fairly safe forests that the residents of Dusk Valley are very careful about felling. People in this town do keep orchards, but farms are somewhat rare in these parts because of the lack of sunlight and often saturated soil. Most of the farms within this territory lie to the far north around Selekoh Wharf which receives significantly more sun. The thin strip of land that makes up this territory has one main road traveling along it- the Lahnni Road, and it hits most of the townships. This includes the ports of Sangkara's Ferry, Port Tuhan, Tua Nilam, Selekoh Wharf, and at the far eastern end, Port Shula. Dusk Valley / Senja is the only large city in the interior of the territory that isn't a mining operation. It is considered the oldest city in the region belonging to the Tulen Darah and it was originally a lumber town. There is a small mine within the nearby Besi Hill that is also considered owned by this city and it produces many precious gems and copper. There is another mine under the old and dormant Mt. Bulan not far from Tua Nilam (Called the Dalam Mine) which also produces these gemstones as well as iron, gold, and copper. It is famous for it's sapphires. Tua Nilam, where most of these are sold, is sometimes called The Sapphire City for this reason. The Dalam Mine connects to the Dalam Tunnel which eventually leads to the mine of Uurkhai under Mt. Indranil on the Uru side of the Ayanga Mountains. This is a common highway for travelers through the mountain range. The Tulen Darah
The Tulen Darah are a people that share a common ancestor with the Yuan-te of the Sethik Jungles. They were the people of the Yuan Khun Empire, which once rivaled both Va'Sehir and Qusura. There aren't many historical records remaining that illustrate the full story of how one of the greatest ancient empires was corrupted from the inside out by religious extremists and their snake god (Sethik) but it was a slow process that took several generations. In the beginning, only the devout, powerful and important (The Sejukhambra) took part in the rituals which altered them into snake-like forms. These forms were considered divine and perfect, like their god. Those that remained fully humans were eventually just the peasants and the slave class, who were not worthy of this sacred gift. There were those of higher class who did not take to this new religion and god initially and most of them chose to leave of their own volition before things became too intense (and religious laws about sacrilege were put into place). Afterwards, many were forced into it lest they face execution or sacrifice. Those who were physically altered were called the Yuan-teruk, the "changed ones" or Yuan-te for short. The poor folks, most of which did not actually want this gift called themselves the Yuan-tulen or "pure ones", often shortened to Yuan-tu. After a few generations as slaves to the Sejukhamba zealots, eventually the remaining humans revolted and fled their homeland in waves. With their departure, the culture of this kingdom swiftly began to crumble into the husk that it is now. The human parts of their culture- the music and the art and the innovation had slowly been abandoned for snake-like coldness and pragmatism. Baru'darTulenniBuangan independent
