The Langollyn Wilds
Langollyn
Langollyn, south of the Elkhorn Rivers, is a notorious track of jungle wildlands that most sail around instead of attempting to trek through. Much as in Shora, something about the energy here draws in unnaturally monstrous creatures. Most of the inhabitants here are savage tribes of goblinoids run out of Shora and the local gnoll menace. Most of the proper settlements found here are small hidden communities of forest gnomes and in fact these wildlands host probably the largest number of forest gnomes in the known world. Two of these towns are actually known to some people who live in the Canastel region of Namiza- Foldweg and Gefindiweld. The forest gnomes here prefer to maintain some control of who treks through these woods so they offer their services as ranger escorts- careful to keep the outsiders away from the other hidden communities. Most often they lead them to the border of Shora or to the nearby mountain pass into the east. These lands are also home to a modest number of reclusive Firbolgs but they do not associate with others, unlike the forest gnomes. There is a fey presence here due to its proximity to Shora- though typically of the darker persuasion. It's easy to get lost in these woods and these malicious fey love to facilitate that. A few small ports are located here just outside of the woods, home to a wide mix of different people. Most of the seaports that once existed have been burnt to ash by a local red dragon but the southern township of Bronze Bell has survived and Freeport is being rebuilt. These ports often serve as as a shoving off point for anyone daring to venture within Langollyn and find the hidden treasures rumored to be lost throughout the region from ancient times. Setting up little traps and generally messing with these "explorers" is a favorite past time for local forest gnomes, though generally the forest kills them before they even have the chance. The port towns also often serve as locations for traveling black markets, where shadowy traders from all over the world meet to swap and sell their questionable wares. Most of these usual visitors are smart enough to avoid the forest or the siren song that is ancient ruins of Qusur.
