Thummadeus "Griftgrip" Irongrasp

The Commander of Spies for the Militant Order of the Shield.

This middle-aged delver was recruited to the order in his early childhood after being made an orphan following the deaths of his parents and a ward in the delver enclave of Whittenrod, by a passing knight. Initially trained in arms and armour, it was during his formative years that his penchant for engineering and lay alchemy was recognised by his Order tutors, and he was recommended to training as a trencher and combat engineer.
Thummadeus rose through the ranks in a typical manner, proving himself as a steady and capable warrior in a number of deployments. His early life on the streets of Whittenrod and his quick thinking earned him the nickname "Griftgrip". Fond of sleight of hand and able to make friends easily, Thummadeus was particularly at home with the regular soldiers of the Army of the Shield.
During a protracted deployment to the mainland, the Master of Spies required a contact with a local delver agent, and Thummadeus was seconded to the Master of Spies for the duration of this deployment. It was here his quick thinking proved to be most valuable to the Order, as enemy forces attempted to capture the agent, and Thummadeus was able to get them both to safety through a combination of combat skill, infiltration, and traps.
Following this, Thummadeus found a permanent home within the Division of Spies. His affable and friendly nature allowed him to make friends easily, a valuable skill to have for an espionage agent, but beneath an easy-going exterior was a focused and intelligent mind.
Favouring the hand axe as a weapon, and fond of snuff, Thummadeus now serves as the order's Master of Spies.
