Session 64: The Loremaster's Elbow
General Summary
The fight with Zitonai continued. As the last of her Lizardfolk warband were dispatched Zitonai began to retreat back up into the sky. Taunts were hurled, and Gemris' twilight aura sent a gentle glow through the desert night that healed the wounds of the Wildcards and steeled their hearts against the dragonfear of the Burnished Huntress. Zitonai continued to struggle with the Air Elemental, desperately gaining altitude as she did so, until Morthak cast Dimension Door and began to dive bomb the dragon. The first attempt missed, and Morthak hurtled to the ground, being saved by the quick actions of Euphrasia as she used a device which softened her fall. Zitonai blasted Gemris with a powerful bolt of lightning, nearly felling the delver, but her tough constitution kept her alive.
Then Morthak made a second attempt, and this time their bodies collided hard in the air, nearly killing Morthak and grievously wounding Zitonai. As Morthak clung on for dear life Zitonai reached behind her, savagely tearing at the goliath's wounded shoulder with her teeth. The wounds were too great and Morthak convulsed as lightning tore through her, before sliding unconscious from the dragon's back and tumbling through the air. This time Eban had placed himself into a position to catch Morthak with one of his spells, and followed it with another to revive her to consciousness and knit the worst of her wounds.
Zitonai fled, as the party gathered, and aid was rendered to the wounded. As we discussed our options Euphrasia, with no further words, carried out the promise she had made and quietly left northwards. Eban shared a few parting words with an angry Skulk, and he joined her. The rest of the party concluded that they should also get moving, stopping only to gather their things before Gemris used her magic to track down some of the scattered camels.
Camels were indeed found, and they bore a pair of riders. We pushed on to speak with this strange pair of arguing travellers. One, a lithe golden-skinned figure in full plate armour, was a Knight of the Militant Order of the Shield and the other, a slight, dark haired human woman, had been a prisoner of the Zeshi, whose caravan, it appeared, was also attacked by the dragon.
Brief introductions were made before the Wildcards divided themselves between the camels and, guided by Orin, set out to put as much distance between themselves and Zitonai as possible.
