Giant

Descendants of the Nephilim, the first race, the giants felt betrayed by their gods when the first war began. Most giants withdrew via Bifrosta to the outer planes to be closer with their gods. A small number, however were unwilling to cede the world to the younger races. These giants through the use of runic magic created a series of demiplanes within the Ethereal Plane known as the Realms of Jotungaard to shelter in, and remained present to assist the Elves and other races in their efforts of the war. Within their Realms of Jotungaard, with the rainbow bridge burning above, the remaining giants assisted in the Dawn War, many finding the Bifrosta that linked them to their realms unable to be opened with the fall of Arcyne.
Later, as the Fey Incursion began, those Bifrosta were able to be opened again and many giants fled back to their Realms, chased by the marauding elves.
As a result many giants have a deep mistrust of Elves, referring to the Elven lands to the south as Alfheim and closing all Bifrosta that might lead there. The lands to the north they call Midgaard, and while they have some trade there, they are mostly content to dwell within their Realms where they await Dyrnsend when they will join the final battle for the world. Bifrosta are warded against those who are not part of the ordning. Rumour has it that the Realms of Jotungaard may in turn contain bridges to the outer planes.
