Restaurant of Dreams

"I must say, Eve, that sounds like a rather silly name. So I assume it is because the meals are everything you could dream of, or something?"

"Partially that, Charles, and partially how it actually makes you dream. You see, there is Power in its special meals and that Power usually reaches you through your dreams. One can have a meal, then a night of rest, and wake up a different person. But mostly the silly everything you can dream of joke, yes. After all, they have all the exotic stuff one could fantasize about. Their dragon steak is said to be marvelous."

Located in an uninhabited world, the Restaurant of Dreams is a place that has been around long enough, with enough varied clientele, to become a place worth Naming. Its owner, only identifying themself by the moniker The Chef, has turned the place into a famous one where many go not just to gain Power, but also just to eat delicious meals and chat with each other.   Not to be confused with a Threshold, the Restaurant is still but a place within a world, with all the fragileness that comes with that. Yet it has many a Doorway, connecting to varying Thresholds and protecting it from getting lost. This also makes it a good shortcut, yet the Chef will not allow transit through without a consumption. So people take their time wandering through, staying for a bite and a well-deserved night of sleep without all the usual threats that keep us partially awake at night and keep a solid rest outside our grasp.   Now a place like this wouldn't become worth of Naming if it was just a restaurant. What makes the place special, is that the Chef serves meals with ingredients from countless worlds. An ever-changing and partially secret menu invokes wonder to even a well-travelled guest. On top of that, the menu specials include creatures of Power, whose consumption will oft allow the guest to grow stronger themself. The resulting dishes are quite exotic, to say the least.   Have you ever wanted to try Dragon steak? Wanted to sink your teeth into the Phoenix-toasted fruit of a rainbow Startree? Or drink the nectar originating from the Thorned Labyrinth of a Thousand Tears? Eat a menu offering all that and more, every bite exposing you to a place you have never been to and may never be able to reach, but due to this meal, its essence will forever be a part of you? That is what the Restaurant offers. At a price.   You see, Power never comes free. Power for Power. Either claim it or receive it through an exchange. Hand a bit of your own Power to the owner, giving Power to the name of the place as well as its owner. The Chef grows stronger not just through every meal prepared, but every meal consumed. Though regulars take the easy way out, providing ingredients instead. That Dragon came from somewhere, someone had to hunt it down first. So the Chef waits for it to be handed over, then prepares the next meal. Thus they grow in Power.
"Said to be, you say. That sounds like you're not part of the clientele. How come?" The newling was learning fast to pick up meaning hidden within formulations, progress she was rather pleased with. Wild Jack taught him well.

"Because to partake in its meals is to trade Power for Power, which requires a trade I have no interest in. What is mine, is mine. I care not for sharing. Besides," and she flashed a grin with more incisors than should be in a mouth, "if I want to consume a dragon, I'll tear it apart myself." He held in a shudder, not a single doubt in his mind that her words rang true.
