A Remnant Sound
She walked for about half a day through the one world, not making any changes to it or herself, just following the trail. Then, she began feeling a familiar presence. She continued with a vague smile on her face, eventually reaching a crossroads with a damaged sign. There, she saw him standing, a melancholic smile on his face. "Howdy, Anne. How are you today?"
She shook her head. "Not well. It hurts me to see you like this. Why come here?" He looked a bit surprised at her words, opening his mouth and raising his hand, before a distant look came over him and he stayed hanging there for a few seconds. The sight hurt her, seeing a damaged echo like this of someone who had been so strong once before. Then the hair on her neck stood up and she could feel her insides twisting as her skin grew armour underneath.
Not all you meet are dwellers or ordinary. Be wary of an echo, and never make the mistake to assume one is weak just for being but a remnant.
A look came over him, but she had gathered her Power quietly for hours already. Her instinctive shapeshifting was just silly at this point, as she already was ready. As he launched himself at her, she spoke a single word. "Sleep." The Power from her Word washed over him gently, his rage dissipating and with that his very existence. All that had been left, had been that boiling rage lying underneath the surface, and with it unveiled and released, he just crumbled.
She stood still for a bit, in respect for all that he had been before, bearing witness to this echo of him being laid to rest. There were still other echoes left, parts of him still existed somewhere, of that she was still sure. But even then, she felt each and every part of him deserved this, so that even if the last bit of him one day fell to silence, at the very least some of him had been sung to his rest.
Sit down, my friend, and let me tell you of Aran'sha . A world where the sands shift and the stars sing, where the wind carries secrets and the twin moons keep silent vigil over it all.
