Hitax the Fraud

Other Names: Hiddukel - The Prince of Lies, The Betrayer, Usk-Do, M'Fistos, Lord of Greed, Avarice, Goldeater, Khorlis Backstabber.   Symbol: Broken scales.   Constellation: The broken scales.   Colors: Gold/copper/red.   Patron of: Crooked deals, illegal or evil business practices, liars, frauds, cheaters, con artists, greed, slavery, betrayal, criminals, damned spirits.   Known Avatars:
  • A corpulent, greasy, Daewar merchant with cold, beady eyes. He is bald and sweat perpetually rings his pale head. He wears the finest tailored clothing, but all the jewelry he wears is fake. His manner is obsequious and eager, and he talks a mile a minute promising everything plus all three moons.
Hitax the Fraud, the god of ill-gotten wealth and crooked deals, is the patron god of evil businessmen and dishonest merchants. A cunning deal-maker, the Goldeater trades in living souls as opposed to goods or money. Some say he can even barter with Tamex the Corruptor and come out ahead.   The Lord of Greed controls all ill-gotten wealth, using it to corrupt the honest and greedy alike. Greed and mischief drive all his transactions. Indeed, one of his deals resulted in the creation of the Greystone, an artifact that wreaked havoc as it spread magic throughout Krynn.   Although he is calculating and predatory, the Backstabber often takes the guise of a fawning and fumbling merchant. Those tricked into bargaining with him generally lose their lives. He constantly seeks good bargains, which generally entail the swapping of a material object for one’s spirit.   In the economic havoc after the War of the Lance, Hitax the Fraud works to gain a chokehold on national economies. He directly opposes Edleth the Shrewd and, to a lesser extent, Reorx. Hiddukel offers great rewards to his followers for destroying Edleth's priests and temples but, not being much of a fighter, fears Reorx and will not risk angering him.

Duties of the Priesthood

Priests of The Goldeater must actively pursue and attain wealth through dishonest and, when all else fails, honest endeavors. They also must wear the finest clothes available.
