Gateway

Gateway was a town of around 400 people located east of Solace in the Sentinel Peaks at the base of Gateway Pass. Similar to its neighbor Solace, Gateway was a crossroads town and served people traveling along the Haven Road and through the pass. During the Age of Despair, it was held by the Seekers and ruled by a theocrat. During the War of the Lance, the town was sacked by the Red Dragonarmy—its buildings destroyed and its people enslaved at Pax Tharkas. After the War, Gateway remained a ruin and to this day has not been rebuilt.

Near the end of the War, our forces secured Gateway's ruins after a short, bloody fight with a mixed force of draconians and hobgoblins. The dragonarmy units were defending something in the ruins, but no one who was there will say what it was. Something gruesome was found at Gateway, and it was bad enough to shake the composure of hardened Thorbardin soldiers. I wasn't there, and no one I've met who was will speak a word of it, so I have no idea what really went on. —BT
