Eld Manor

The ruins of Eld Manor are located on a heavily wooded hill overlooking Crystalmir Lake, a few miles due north of Solace. Once a handsome manor house built in the Ergothian late empire style, the ruin sits and quietly decays in the midst of its overgrown lawns and gardens. The house itself is a two-story affair with four wings, a three-story tower, and a courtyard. Other buildings such as stables, servants' housing, barns, and even a small chapel dedicated to the Gods of Neutrality hide among the trees and undergrowth. Eld manor has stood for at least 150 years, but no one has lived in the manor in living memory and the people of Solace Vale have only the vaguest idea of its history.   There is a decidedly unsavory air to the Eld Manor and its grounds. People who live in the surrounding region refuse to go near it, and all manner of strange stories surround the house and its forgotten history. Most claim the house is haunted, but what haunts its dusty halls changes with every telling. Some say the lady of the house went mad and killed the lord and herself after losing a child to a plague. Others claim that the spirit of an ancient and evil black robe wizard still roams the grounds. All manner of local curses, plagues, infestations, and unfortunate events have been attributed to Eld Manor and any spirits that might dwell within. Whatever its story, the sight of the decaying house casts a pall over the northern shore of Crystalmir Lake, and few dare to go anywhere near it.
