Bardion the Knowing Character in Dwarven Spring | World Anvil

Bardion the Knowing

Other Names: Zivilyn - Tree of Life, World Tree, The Wise One, The Green Man.   Symbol: A great gold vallenwood tree with a broad, green canopy.   Constellation: Bardion does not have a readily recognizable constellation because his celestial symbol is his planet.   Colors: Brown, yellow/green.   Patron of: The wise, the elderly, seers, sages, leaders, nature.   Known Avatars:
  • An elderly, balding Hylar with stooped shoulders and a long beard. His eyes are windows to the stars, and he has a dreamy air about him.
  • A prophetic child with dark brown skin, white hair, and quicksilver eyes.
  • A kind, empathetic priest wearing green and yellow robes. He has green eyes, yellow beard, hair, and eyebrows, and carries a curious animated wooden staff that responds to his commands.
Bardion the Knowing, god of all wisdom, is the celestial Tree of Life and his branches and roots extend into all times and places. Much as Mistral the Book holds the knowledge of the universe, Bardion holds its wisdom. He acts not according to the dictates of his mind, but according to those of his heart. Because wisdom is incomplete without knowledge and knowledge is incomplete without wisdom, Bardion and Mistral work closely together.   The Green Man is the companion of Uhlith the Bear, and most mortals view this relationship as the perfect marriage of harmony and understanding. He works with his consort to restore nature because he loves her and because nature is the cradle of wisdom. He wants to teach the folk of Krynn a wisdom that transcends Good and Evil, wisdom unfettered by any order. Bardion occasionally sends worshippers in search of lost libraries and fonts of wisdom, though, often, he calls them to seek wisdom in themselves.   Despite The Wise One's wisdom, many find him aloof. His concern with harmony and balance prevents him from approaching other gods or mortals. His wisdom also makes him imperturbably quiet. Many misinterpret these two traits as conceit, though Bardion is, in truth, one of the most approachable and sympathetic gods.

Duties of the Priesthood

Priests of Bardion the Knowing devote themselves to wisdom in thought and deed. To the priests, committing a foolish act is worse than committing an Evil act.
