Baloc the Ungod—also known as Nuitari—is the god of black magic. He drew his Evil nature from his parents Tamex the Corruptor and Sargonax the Vengeful. Like the other gods of magic, Baloc left his home plane to orbit Krynn in the Ethereal plane and he resides just beyond the black moon that is his symbol. This moon, called Nuitari, cannot be detected unless it eclipses other stars and moons. From his home on this smallest of all moons, the Blackhand watches Krynn and fosters his greatest love—magic.   While wandering Krynn in avatar form, Baloc founded the wizardly Order of the Black Robes. This order espouses his belief that magic should be secret and coveted.   The Ungod is perhaps the most approachable of the Gods of Chaos as his love for magic transcends his evil nature. An intense and quiet god, he displays a scholar’s love for the magical arts. He continually researches new spells to grant his priests and wizards, seeking the universe’s arcane secrets. Black magic comes at a price, however. though it grants its users incredible power, it also slowly takes control of them. Nuitari observes in wry amusement as those who try to master his art are consumed by its dark power.   Baloc, like his peers Siri God's-Eye and Dulina Forgeglow, seeks to increase the presence of magic on Ansalon. If he cannot recruit a mage to darkness he encourages them to go renegade, causing headaches for his partners. He works distantly with the two other magic gods to bring more and better magic to Krynn, but he would prefer it all to be black magic.

Duties of the Priesthood

Baloc the Ungod has no dedicated priesthood. He is revered by black-robe wizards and respected by the red and white robes, but he is not worshipped. Priests of the arcane and knowledge realms worship him as part of a group of gods that provide their powers, but not him alone. Priests of the arcane often invoke him in black rites of necromancy and summoning.
