Ankatavaka

The holy "city" of Ankatavaka is a port town located on Abanasinia's western shores. Before the Cataclysm, Ankatavaka was one of the jewels of the Empire of Ergoth, and one of the largest religious centers in the empire with countless temples, shrines, and holy sites. Now separated from Ergoth by the Straits of Algoni, the town has seen numerous changes throughout the centuries but is still a center for religious worship and scholarship. During the War of the Lance, it was ruled by an oligarchy of priests, many of whom were involved in the Seeker religion. When the true gods returned, the priests returned to worshiping the old gods and their power and influence rose even further. The rulership of Ankatavaka has remained with the priesthood, who also has a small private mercenary army, which protects them against enemies. Ankatavaka's port is used primarily for fishing and import and does very little shipping thanks to its inconvenient location and dangerous shoals surrounding the town.
