For this child is no bairn, but evil in disguise. It is frail, turbulent, and hostile. In all words, it is a Mòrag, a creature of shadows.
It is said that long ago, a young woman from a now extinct family in the
Highlands angered the fae. Nobody really knows why; after all, faeries are fickle things, as easily insulted as a
Duranin. Nevertheless; what was done was done, and the cursed woman waited for many years for her punishment to come. But faeries are as patient as they are cunning. Soon the woman became pregnant with her first child. Filled with joy, she ignored the impending dread in her chest.
The first time she laid eyes on her boy, she knew something was wrong; her baby was frail, with a hideous rictus across his face, and looked nothing like his mother or father.
