(a.k.a. The Eternal Sleeper, It That Slumbers, The Original Nightmare)

Sovenne'Khel is an otherworldly entity from the deep ethereal that can only be summoned by well hidden rituals. Those who summon and deal with him often pay devastating prices, as Sovenne'Khel is a being of immeasurable power and hunger. He exudes an aura of lethargy around him, causing any being caught within the field to become more and more exhausted over time. He can also turn his gaze to an individual, and psychically command them to sleep. When around unconscious or sleeping individuals, Sovenne'Khel is capable of viewing and consuming the thoughts and dreams of his target.
The last known person to perform the ritual of Sovenne'Khel was Richard Lafoux.

Personal history

What little is known about Sovenne'Khel is found in esoteric spellbooks which make brief mention of the creature, ancient tomes long lost to man, or kept under heavy guard for the horror they could unleash. Sovenne'Khel lives within the deep ethereal, asleep but still conscious of the world around him twisting it and extending his influence through the dreams and nightmares of mortals. Sovenne'Khel's plans are beyond mortal understanding but seem to be driven by a primal hunger, for exactly what is unknown, but seems to be sated by devouring the dreams and thoughts of mortals who come in contact with him. It is said that once he was called in his true form to the mortal plane by a powerful wizard seeking the answers to why men dream and from that all nightmares were then spawned...of course though that is just rumor despite it's popularity among those aware of Sovenne'Khel there is no proof at all such a thing is actually true.

Morality & Philosophy

Sovenne'Khel has no understanding of neither good nor evil according to all known understanding of him but scholars lightly versed in him warn that he should be treated regardless as highly dangerous and evil. He does as he pleases and works only for his own goals and left unchecked or called upon recklessly will wreak untold havoc and lasting damage on the material plane.

Taboos

It is taboo to summon Sovenne'Khel and thus why the rituals to contact or summon him have been closely guarded or well kept secret but every once and a while a fool does call upon him...much to their own detriment and often to the detriment of those around them as well.
