Physical Description

Identifying Characteristics

While his appearance is variable due to his nature, he always uses his 'preferred' eye color of yellow/gold when he is not assuming the form of a specific individual. This is partially due to personal preference, and partially due to overconfidence.

Mental characteristics

Education

Foundational education from his mother and father, though none in a direct manner from the latter. His mother taught him how to integrate peacefully into different groups and fundamental education. The lessons he took particular interest in involved picking up details through observation, and being able to convince people to accept your identity. This fascination with being able to form plans from details gleaned quickly stuck with him throughout his life.
Extended cultural knowledge and languages were picked up by researching the lives of marks, along with making deals with certain interested parties.
Fighting skills and stealth skills were picked up both from multiple different smaller sources (both normal and criminal), as well as self taught, especially when his Shadow is involved.

Employment

Freelance mercenary and assassin, advertises the former, quietly seeks out opportunity for the latter.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Multiple assassinations and murders as a mercenary, several of which are still considered to be 'freak accidents' by the general public.

Managing to maintain essentially a freelance affiliation for so long, working through a 'middleman' very rarely. Finds this a small source of pride.

Failures & Embarrassments

His own death, though he isn't aware of that yet.

One flopped assassination from when he was starting out, but was not caught for. Poison was simply detected in the food, part of why his work became more intricate.

Mental Trauma

His oddly sociopathic view of death probably was sparked by something when he was REALLY young. Likely one of the reasons his father was not present in his life after a certain point.

Intellectual Characteristics

Ling's view of the world is heavily influenced by the concept of growth and stagnation. A versatile individual should always try to seek innovation, else they lapse into being too static - stagnating as they become set in their ways. This is not to say that being completely wild is good either - Growth without aim is potentially wasted energy. "Standard" methods are good baselines, but with the addition of novelty, one can grow their skills in ways others won't expect or be prepared for. It is necessary to develop yourself for any kind of situation, always having the upper hand.
To this end, if there's one thing Ling values as much as novelty, it's information. Knowing the situation ahead of time allows a greater control of the way things unfold, and any and all information that can be gathered should be used when formulating tactics.

Motivation

Ling's driving motivation is thrill seeking, above any pay or reward he'd get for his actions. Bounty hunting is something he does for kicks, it doesn't matter if it's dead or alive, as long as he gets to have fun with the job, he's up for it. He is constantly searching for new leads or info that can be used to keep his methods secure, well-planned, and above all else, novel.

Likes: Novelty, opportunity, new information, interesting stories (his own or others'), his Shadow, making people question how things happened, 'odd' people, card games.
Dislikes: Stagnation, boring jobs, stifled creativity.

When not actively on the job, Ling often seeks out local rumor mills or libraries to spend time relaxing.
He is also always up for a game of cards, for fun or with stakes. Either way, his perceptive skills tend to make him extremely good at the mental part of these games.
