The Voraguan Inscription

The Voraguan Inscription records the Divine Creation of Voragua. It is made of a bluish stone-like material, though far more dense than stone, and durable against the weathering of the oceans. It bears the words of Cydenti during the final moments of their Divine Creation.   Theologians understand the Inscription proper to be embedded at the source of Voragua. Given Cydenti's philosophies towards enduring, the Inscription ought perhaps to have withstood the torrents of The Wellspring eternally. Some further hypothesise that the Inscription is a fundamental component of Voragua, and that its destruction could bring an stop to the endless flow, and perhaps lay low Cydenti themself.   Despite this, hundreds of claims of fragments having been found, or recovered. Such are naturally of interest to the clergy of Cydenti. Many fragments have nucleated holy sites for such orders, who develop peculiarities of doctrine around the intelligible content of the fragment, and usually seek to collect and assemble parts of the inscription. As larger fragments have a discernible curvature, it is expected that the Inscription proper forms a loop structure.   The largest assembled span of the Inscription stretches five metres wide and three high. Across the known realms there are perhaps ten fragments known that span more than a metre in at least one dimension. Smaller fragments are more common, but also much prone to mis-identification or fraudulent immitation; adherents of Cydenti are an easy mark for such a hoax, as they are loathe to risk passing over a genuine fragment without a thorough inspection.   The Inscription itself is of Primordial runes, unadorned with flamboyant serif yet delicate by their minute scale, and multiply layered. This complexity precludes simple spells of divination it comprehension from translating the meaning, which must instead be done manually.   Coherent passages are usually adopted into religious dogma. However, protection of the existing fragments often borders on jealous concealment, and so the fullness of the available text has never been compiled.   The extent to which a part of the Inscription can manifest or bestow any direct power is poorly understood. Anecdotes suggest that even a palm-sized fragment can grant the wielder control over the flow and form of water.
