The City of Ates
Demographics
Wealth is somewhat shared throughout the city, no areas are significantly behind or ahead of the others although individuals such as great merchants or veterans have amassed large sums of money.
Ates is fairly isolated city in terms of races, mostly those who hold tribal routes like Orcs, Minotaur and Centaurs. There is also a large population of fire genasi, due to the natural state of the Burnt Plains. Other individuals from other races are within the city but in the minority.
Defences
A thick outer wall, made of brick and obsidian, rings the city and has towers at regular intervals. On top of the walls soldiers patrol the length in force and ballista ready to shoot down incoming threats. Trenches ring the outside wall and are filled with thick silver spikes.
After the outer wall, a secondary wall is manned by more soldiers, the wall is armed with boiling oil and canisters of alchemist fire.
Industry & Trade
Beyond military service, the most popular occupation is farming as the plains are incredibly fertile so crops of all variety grow easily.
