“A riotous, nigh-perpetual brawl that covers entire acres, interrupted only by small buildings, intermittent trade businesses, an errant dog or two, and a few brave watch guards, who manage to keep the chaos from spreading beyond the docks; the whole lot wallowing in the stench of rotting fish.” - Elminster, Sage of Shadowdale While that may have been true a century ago, one could say much of Dock Ward has become gentrified. With the rise of Field Ward and Downshadow, the less reputable elements of Waterdhavian life have migrated away from the Harbor, though Mistshore remains a boil on the ass end of the ward. Meanwhile, it has become the most diverse of all the wards, with races and cultures from all over Toril making it their home. Still, it is a place of hard labor and brutal industry, typified as much by poor houses as warehouses. Sailors and dock hands still brawl and drink, and crime is still endemic in this working class ward, but it is a far cry from times past. This is where the city began, and it remains the beating heart of Waterdeep’s industry and shipping. ~The Lord Dumaine
