General Summary
After sing the horrible thing dash off into the darkness the party continued their advance through the storm drains.
They explored further until they heard a sound in one of the pipes above
They heated the metal of the pipe and heard a horrible screeching noise and movement going away from the heated metal.
Hurrying they followed the noise.
They were discovered a corpse of one of the tall creatures in the mist.
Deciding that the movement was more important to follow they ignored the creatures corpse
Gaelin got subsequently hit with a color spray from the creature who vanished soon after.
They continued forward after losing track of where it went. they explored northward where they heard a voice call out.
"Are you one of those things?"
The party being suspicious about this voice decided to send a familiar in to investigate first
They were able to see a little bit of the figure that matched the description of one of the 3 people they were looking for down in the tunnels.
As Keisuke cast Identify through his familiar the creature attacked damaging him and eating some of his memories.
A fight ensued leaving the monster hurt as they fled away
The party investigated the small chamber it was in and found folded cloths a gun and a journal all in brail pocketing all of it.
Keisuke collected some of the silvery slime left over by the creature.
The party continued through the corridors searching for the monster where they found a small anticahmber that was filled with knee high water.
The party split half watching the entrance the other half entering.
Upon further investigation Gaelin found a large metal latch
Trough some planning the party was able to a pole and their combined strength to open the latch. despite the heaviness of it and the water on top of it.
They began to hear eerie humming coming from the bottom of the ladder that the hatch revealed.
Gaelin and Keisuke descended in further to examine it.
there they found a door slightly ajar the humming coming from inside
one of them opened the door where they saw a beautiful black haired lady in a white dress that flayed into wonderful colors at the bottom looking into a mirror and humming.
She invited them in to talk and when it seemed like they were going to leave she charmed Keisuke
She also went out and charmed radon in as well. lola resisted the charm and pretended to gtfo.
With that she began asking questions about the party and if they had any questions about her
She told them that she was down here in her home and had not seen the people they were talking to. and that she wouldn't have any interest in them anyway.
She then brought out a small platinum ball berring. and pressing it to everyone's skin skipping over gaelin
She informed them everyone except gaelin was free to leave so long as they did not inform anyone of her existence
She then answered a question saying that she only kills changelings
This lead to Gaelin asking if she was in fact The Devotion.
She answered with a resounding yes
Combat ensued where Gaelin began to lose more and more of his memories until at the end he couldnt remember how this fight began.
Cornered and dying The Devotion offered a deal. They get knowledge of the mist and gaelin regains his memories if she goes free.
After some discussion the party agreed. some more reluctantly than others
She informed the party about the things in the mist. That they are in fact the remnants of those who are left behind when a chronomancy spell is cast. These husks are in constant search of fulfillment in that they want to fill the hole they have with some souls. preferably with the ones that were left over when the timeline skipped. She also informed that these things are in constant pain and depending on the variant have intelligence approximately similar to the original.
After revealing this she slowly gave gaelin his memories back. when she was done he imedietly renigged on his deal and killed her.
The party began looting as you do. they found:
1.A coded book and a cypher
2. a good amount of fine clothing
3. a necklace of fireballs (modified)
4. some extra jewelry worth a good amount of money
5. A large amount of currency that ranges from dates
6. 3 Coins of chronostasis which are super busted OP
7. 4 silver from tearing up the entire rooms carpet
Keisuke sustained a few injuries from a trap on the book
The party headed topside to store the loot and come back prepared
The party re entered in search of the Adult Oblex and the other two missing people
After some exploring the party made it in and found the yuan ti man and the kenku
The kenku had passed away the man looked thin. he told the party about how he ate the slime that kept coming and attacking
After telling him the path was clear he bolted leaving the party behind.
The party then explored the rest of the storm vents. eventually realizing that these things would not attack and expose themselves if the party was in a group or if they were in light.
So with Radon as bait they had her walk alone in the dark down the corridor
There a Large silver slime came down and began taking the form of one of the faceless humanoids in the mist. though half formed it looked not unlike a mannequin as it wrapped its hands around radons neck
The fight ensued where the rouge proved to be useful in eliminating single targets as usual XD
With the threat dealt with Keisuke got to work on regaining his memories by eating the slime itself.
Seeing faint visions of the woman who was missing. oddly enough not actually blind it seems.
The visions showed her with Tevon in a black stone room with the echos of a beating heart coming from a strangly mummified but also not mumufied man held up on an X made of solid Obsidion.
Tevon handed her a item that was no bigger than a wine bottle. and informed her to see a courier with the initials NS.
The memories progressed up until her demise by the hands of the creature.
The party was able to figure out the identity of the courier as Nobira Sugi a woman the party met at the beginning of the campaign.
The last memory they gained from the last scoop of slime. is that of her leaving that strange room with the man coming up from a hatch from a very familiar belltower.
