General Summary

Who's Eggs??

Declan introduces himself to Nina Elis as "Six's boy". Her odd, curst response indicates that she either has no idea what he's talking about or seemed to care very little. Ghilani covertly leaned forward. It's me. I'm here for the... you know. For what? Rani, a bit perplexed tries to figure out what's going on with her. Despite the fact that Nina is "playing coy", her attitude didn't appear to be antagonistic. Ghilani elaborated: for the blood. Oh, I don't have any of that on me right now. Ah yes, of course. Nina blinked. Declan then chimed in: do you have some sort of task then for him to complete? Six did.
Nina leaned over Ghilani from her perch on top of the bar. Who are you? Ghilani responded, almost immediately, with "Ghilani". Moira experienced a brief flashback. Nina stared. Ghilani then continued: Was that too simple? Was that a deeper question? Nine didn't elaborate. What are your horizons? Ghilani paused. Can I think about that one? As Ghilani begins to think, Nina moved about the bar, speaking with many of the drinking Elians. Can you increase my wingspan? Some muscle toneing would be nice? Perhaps puff me up a little big... I am trying to impress! It sounds like you're all compensating for something! Nina seems to be in good rapport with the Elians and, clearly, is a regularly here. Tyto extends an arm for her to perch on for a lap around the bar. She deposits plates of half-eaten food near her elven friend. She sits and chats, laughing.
Newt keeps pace with Rhovahk on the shots, handling his liquor a bit better than the local. Rhovahk began asking about everything. You seem to know what you're doing. What are you fighting exactly? Newt explained that every one they've dealt with is different and they tended to shift through different forms throughout a fight – each more dangerous than the last. But you all seem fine? Handled the fight without any problems? New shrugged. I wouldn't say it was easy and that we handled them without any issues. But you all made it out it seems? And how do you find it? What exactly are you looking for? Crystals? Newt provides the general low down: just follow the chain of infection. Rhovahk "Hms" as he ordered another shot.
Newt then turned the tables. Any idea how to find a mythical winter ice palace? Rhovahk quirked a feathered brow. You answered your own question, man. Did you not see the swirling mass of winter on our way in? If you're chasing THAT fairy tale, then it would be there. When asked if he believes it is real, Rhovahk explained that its a children's tale told to keep children from stupidly wandering into the Anwar-Dai before they're ready. Newt followed up with his opinion: I think it's real. Oh? I have family in the ice palace. Rhovahk blinks slowly in confusion as he processes. What? How much family? How do you know? Oh, well I spoke to them. Rhovahk still seemed perplexed. You're something for a non-feathered, winged blue man. Thanks! Can you take me to the fairy tale winter ice palace? After the sickness is resolved, of course. After a moment of hesitation, Rhovahk shook on it before falling backward, landing on the net below.
Meanwhile, Rani took up a spot next to the elvan man with Moira listening in after she got passed her dilemma of "WHO'S EGGS ARE THESE" and "Oh my gosh I don't have enough fingers to do fuel cell math!" Altan seemed very open to conversation and was quick to verify that Rani and her companions had food. If you don't finish everything, I am the resident trash bin, so to speak! Put it all on my plate! It's my favorite tenet to uphold: Waste not.
Rani asked about how he came to be here. She was under the impression that this place was closed. Altan shrugged: it was a bit different a few centuries ago. He was lured here on the premise of good, unique food. When he made it here – tired of city life in Eredet – he decided to get his braids so he could stick around. Two decades later and he was best friends with Nina Elis. They are both a bit of "other". Very much still welcomed by Elian society, but still uniquely different from the rest.
Regarding his duties, Altan is responsible – or perhaps was – for overseeing the religious rites for those not of Elian birth. It has been a bit slow lately. His favorite place is the bridge between the two main towers of the Temple. It creates a "rainbow" waterfall. Motivation for you to visit the Temple! Once, the Temple was rumored to be able to transport you directly to the mountains of Caliban, but that hasn't happened in centuries, supposedly. Rani asked if Elis is a talkative god? They've seen the whole spectrum. Hm. He hasn't really spoken to her since he received his fifth braid, but she talks to her High Priest regularly when the sun is at its zenith. Regarding Nina Elis, Altan seemed to have some inclination of what she is, but has little knowledge of so-called "old friends". He seemed to delight in the fact that Rani had an interest in reaching the Temple at some point. Please do!
Have you heard of Biscuits and Gravy? Altan responded that of course he has. Well, how about Gravy and Biscuits? Now THAT is a food question I like to hear. Rani explained that its Moira's specialty – like a lava cake but with gravy... and a biscuit. Altan seemed intrigued; perhaps you can make it for him another time!
Ghilani stopped Nina in her walking. I'll shatter my naievety. Nina nods. By the way, I always have blood, you know. Yeah, I know. Nina continued: you can receive my blood, formally, at the Temple. You must be strong of body, mind, and spirit, Ghilani. Define the borders of your horizon and shatter them. That is how we grow. That is how we find out who we truly are. What is your specialty in blood? Ghilani took a moment, and then responded: "Happiness". Nina tilts her head and gave him a bit of a look. And what is Primus'? Without another word, Nina moved to Altan and he, on instinct, shovelled the remaining food away before Nina dove off the edge. When she returned, she was huge, easily able to grab Altan and carry the both of them towards the Temple in the distance mountaintops.
Moira prayed to her two buds. Annanias still seemed a bit drowsy. Caliban responded that if she is in Elios and in need of currying favor, perhaps she could return the offering made a long time ago. Moira was confused by that. Newt sent to Volo, updating him and informing him of Ah'Shal's state and the presence of his dad. Volo responded in a manner that is slightly uncharacteristic for him. Yeah, kid, I know about your dad. Somewhat cleaning the place. I'm fine. Oksha seemed to slightly suggest otherwise. There's a place of Void in him? I don't have spells for that. Hithvess and I are trying. It's fine? Newt then sent to Atu. Hey, what's going on? Ah, Oksha called you, didn't she? Yes, so this is a little out of even MY depth to be honest. He is so grouchy and unappreciative and– Everything seems under control?
Perplexed by what Cal said, the Deep End decided to visit the Shrine to Caliban. Upon entering, the... symbolism here seemed a bit different. The shrine is primarily moon and nigh-focused and the statue of Caliban is just a giant dragon, though it is peculiar. Instead of one draconic type, it is a fusion of black, white, silver, and bronze features. As they entered, the caretaker of the shrine froze. Oh my goodness, are you Khalashtar? Moira was confused, incredibly so. I never though this day would come! She ducked to the back, moving things around, and returned carrying an old piece of cloth.
Long ago, a woman by the name of Soyolmaa arrived in Sun's First Grace with two swords on her hip. She informed my ancestor that a friend requested a set of items be kept in the care of the shrine until a Khalashtar girl born of Caliban arrived.

Chandra, the caretaker, was grateful that the day has finally arrived. She feared it never would when Elios closed their borders. As she unwrapped the old fabric, the colors and patterns were revealed, instantly familiar – albeit outdated – to Rani. Inside were five items which the group claimed. Rani inquired when these items arrived. Chandra knew it was perhaps about 1,000 years ago, hundreds of generations ago. She was uncertain if it was before are after the war, but definitely during that time. Rani kept the fabric.
Moira prayed again to Caliban. As she began to speak of Dysis and how they recovered some items of hers, Calibird climbed the dragon statue and perhced on its face before going megaphone. There is... something of her still left? Moira informed Cal that they were left here... for her apparently. Cal mentioned that Dysis was the strongest of his Oracles, a master of the red thread. She knew you would come, I am certain. Moira then asked about what he meant by an offering. Caliban explained that he and Elis are two sides of one coin; masters of the sky. They have not spoken in some time, but both have been through substantial pain, though of a different kind and source. Long ago, the son of Elis, the Elian hero Tuari, met many gods and offered the most sacred of offerings to Caliban: one of his braids. If you are in need of currying favor, perhaps a similar offering could be given in return. You are my Chosen, after all. As Calibird closed his beak, Moira just managed to hear Cali say, in a voice damn near crying: She did not forget me.
The Deep End returned to their pods. Rani found herself in a vaguely familiar parlor with tea previously prepared and arranged. The Lady of Dread offered Rani a deal. Your memories in exchange for Tatya's. Rani asked to receive an answer to her previous question. Why do you want it, the journal? The same reason as you. Ancestry. To protect family? No, it is my birthright. Do we have a deal? Rani, after a long moment of thought, responded that she can't. The Lady of Dread sighed. I do respect your decision. Such resilience, but our talks are no longer productive to me. Remember this decision, Rani. If you will not cooperate, perhaps others will. I won't bother your dreams any longer. When we meet again, it will be face to face. And my face will be the last you ever see...

Just a Little Coy Koi

In the morning, Rani feigned sleep, nudging Declan awake. We all need to talk in private. Before then, Declan took Ghilani to strengthen his mind. Declan isn't sure how to start on the physical side with Ghilani. Envision the future that you want. What would you do to protect that? Hold onto that. It's what drives me and it might be what you have to cling to if Primus attempts to take control.
When everyong awoke, no invisible things were sighted (and Moira attempted to insight the elusive figure known as the DM) and the private sanctum constructed. Rani strongly believes that they need to tell the Chieftain about who they are upagainst. Lollith will destroy them. They cannot afford to lose their hunters, especially after this sickness. They deserve to know what they are walking into. Otherwise, their deaths are on our hands. Declan promised to think of some way to convey key information via mind talk. They'll just have to present it to the Chieftain while discussing something else... so it doesn't seem suspicious if they are being watched.
Rani then mentioned that Clock Lady visited her and the she won't be visiting her again. She mentioend friends... Rani isn't sure if that meant the group or if that meant Zephus, Ezra, or someone else in the Heart of the Desert. Newt mentioned that Volo had been released, but he definitely has some Void in him. Rani asked if Volo could be tursted with Newt's dad and so close to Ah'Shal. Newt seemed to be willing – for the FIRST TIME – to "trust" his dad on thisone. Mostly because he doesn't think Volo can take his dad. Do you think Moira can just... use her Dread King bit to EAT Volo's Dread King bit?
Turning to Moira, Declan told her that he thinks Dysis isn't dead. Ragnar seemed concerned that she would be choked by the red threads. Caliban deserves to know, but it should come from you. Declan then informed the group that he knew the Doctor's identity. If you feel you won't be reactive, I will tell you. As Declan continued, Moira seemed a bit perturbed, attempting to speak, but stopping. Calibird knowingly hugged her face with his wings. Newt responded that he trusts Declan. Tell us whenever you think a good time is. But how long are we spending at the hunting grounds? Rhovahk is SICK. I don't want to dally. Ghilani poked his head out through the private sanctum. Perception real good this morning. He saw Elians flying. Maybe they're talking? It's easier to read lips vs. beak.
Heading to Hunter's Gift, they found a crowd of hunters already gathered, checking bows and gathering arrows. Jhaxton Jaw is among them. Oh, you're off to get a braid? Sure, we can fly you there in a few hours. Don't worry, won't be any problem carrying you. While the group discussed plans, Jhaxton seemed to subtly be flexing and posing in the background. Newt and Moira determined that they needed to assert dominance, but they were outflexed by Mr. Jae. Oh no. Dominance not asserted.
Rani ducked out to speak to one of the quieter hunters. The middle-aged half orc woman responded that the courier service are the only non-Elians permitted to enter the city. Truly, the best service on the continent.
Jhaxton offered to carry Moira; shouldn't be any problem even with that heavy armor of yours. Moira would like to see Jhaxton try. And so he picked her up with ease. Moira realized that she's an accidental flirt. Don't worry, Newt says, I won't tell Volo. The group flies for a little more than an hour, arriving at the Ceremonial Hunting Ground. Jhaxton motioned for them to speak to Instructor Gosso, a large aarakocra meditating on one of the central perches. An owl and a hawk were perched on each of his shoulders.
Gosso was quick to confirm that they may begin. The Chieftain has approved of such a venture. He gave very short instructions: retrieve the CardinFox unharmed. You may take one item with you. The decision was easy for the spell casters who kept their arcane focuses. Dysis' pendant seemed like maybe it was once a holy focus. Newt took the Cloak of Animal form.
Approaching the chasm, there is a strong updraft, the strength being confirmed when moira was launched 30 feet up. After attempting to swim for a few rounds, she ultimately decided magic is a better solution, casting Guiding Bolt to propel herself. Ghilani followed suit using Gust to propel himself across. Newt turned into an owl and flew around back, attempting to dive bomb the little creautre as it was momentarily interested in Rani's "Red Dot healing spirit" before it lost interest. It seemed to sense Newt's approach, ducking into the system of holes and tunnels within the rock pillar. Declan and Rani both attempted to navigate between the rock pillars. Rani succeeded while Declan missed, resorting to Eldritch Blasting his way to the central pillar. Having all converged on the pillar and watching the creature "play coy" for a bit. Moira said it was time for overkill and upcasted Sleep as Newt sent his tail to try and grab it. Although it initially slipped past, it did fall into a slumber. Rani turned gaseous and propelled it upward as Ghilani helped with a mage hand, guided by George. Newt was able to grab and football carry the now sleeping CardinFox back.
Gosso is impressed as the CardinFox played with a tornado of insects before it returned to its rock pillar. They did not make the mistake that many young Elians make: going alone. Community is key. We are stronger together. Typically, meditation follows, but they may pursue that on their own time. Declan asked if previous meditation counted. What if you've already done the growth? Gosso countered: Are you done growing? No, I guess not. Gosso provided each of the five with their first braid, made of Szorm'Szor fur, dyed, and woven into their hair.
The Deep End returned to Jhaxton. You know, let's head to the northern Szorm'Szor territory. Why delay? Newt sent to Rhovahk. Hey, we're going to go after the crystals if you wanted to join us. Rhovahk responded: I'm way ahead of you. Oh Jhaxton, what was YOUR growth? Better to fly together, as he motioned to all his companions. Moira purposefully put rocks in her pockets, but Jhaxton managed to lift her just fine still.

Guess the Myths and Legends are True

Newt's really getting the hang of this jet stream flying thing! A little ways out, the clear weather turned to snowfall, obscuring vision. The Elians rearranged themselves to block some of the snow as they flew, seemingly used to it. About 2 hours in, Moira sensed a familiar cold sensation, different from the snow-induced cold. There is a slight pull on everyone's inner being from down below. As they landed, there was a faint roar in the distance. Jhaxton, upon hearing the Rhovahk might be around, seemed to scoff: arrogance that one. Despite his perceived annoyance, Jhaxton sent his group to scout the area, in case Rhovahk was in need of help.
Following the pulling sensation, Jhaxton redirected them slightly, but ultimately, they were forced to approach the noises: roars, thuds, and the sounds of teeth and claws clashing. Newt and Moira managed to catch a glimps amidst the swirling snow. Five shapes, engaged in a contest of strength and will. Jhaxton noted, upon looking closer, that it is odd for them to be in groups at this time. They are generally solitary creatures. Newt, taking a moment to watch, noticed that all of them seemed to have black around their eyes.
Eventually, the Deep End arrived at the edge of a chasm and began to descend. Declan, Jhaxton, and Newt had a fine time, stumbling a bit and straining them ankles upon landing at the bottom. Rani got a bit jolted, but managed to catch herself and avoid the worst. The two kids, however, got hurled around, smacked together, and crashed to the ground unceremoniously. Moira managed to shield Ghilani from some of the impact. Gathering themselves, they stealthed towards a faint light in the distance, surrounded by two large shadows: incredibly large birds made of stone. Jhaxton seemed shocked. He thought they were mere legends. The Nehezko. Birds cursed to stone by Elis, too heavy to fly again. They build rock pillars to the sky instead. Rani, inching closer, casted Locate Object and found Rhovahk tucked away nearby, watching the stone falcons. He seemed to have discovered that the creatures can sense tremors.
Rani decided to go in for a closer look as a gaseous form, noting that there is a crystal up ahead with slight cracks and dents, but mainly intact. It has three symbols: a crude circle, a crude sun, and a crud tree... and a blank space for a fourth symbol. Newt had an idea to fire an explosive bolt VERY far away to get the stone falcons to move. Rhovahk and Jhaxton both offered to tie the bolt to an arrow and fire it from a longbow. Newt gave it to Rhovahk who definitely gave Jhaxton a look as he moved to fire where Newt directed. In exchange, Moira handed him her bag of ugly rocks.
The large birds move off, sending small tremors through the ground. Ghilani and Moira work to unravel the crystal and when it disintegrates... the ground exploded outward as a large burst of wind exploded upward. Everyone managed to dodge except the two right next to the crystal. The Environment is out to get Moira today.
At the bottom of the tunnel, there is a small cavern, perhaps no more than 60 feet across. There are no exits or other entrances besides the recently created hole in the ceiling. It is odd that the ground here is incredibly smooth, though still made of stone. Despite the chill emanating from above, the ground felt slightly warm. The scent of distant rain lingered in the air. Odd. In the center of the room, there stood three small rock pillars. On top of them rested a relatively large prism, perhaps 3 feet along any side. Each prism rested directly atop the rock pillar.
As one approached the pillars, beams of light suddenly became visible. They emerged from various places along the cavern wall, striking the prism. Each prism was struck by six beams of light and none of the beams crossed. For each prism, there was a beam of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet light. As the colorful beams strike the prism simultaneously and then persist, a beam fo pure white light emanated upward, striking the ceiling.

Gifts from the Past

A Vial of Blood – The vial looks incredibly expensive, though equally as old. It contains a deep crimson liquid that, as you move the vial, moves as if it was still fresh. There is a faint inscription in Elvish along one side.
She will not succeed, with or without your help.

Moon & Stars Pendant – A silver pendant composed of a crescent moon and a set of stars hangs from an old thread. It feels familiar. Inscribed on the back is the following phrase in Quori:
To the next weaver of the red thread.

Golden 4-Leaf Clover Pendant – A gold pendant composed of a four-leaf clover flanked by orange beads and gems in various hues. A bee is carved in the center of the clover. Inscribed on the back is the following phrase in Elvish:
Child of Fortune; Descendant of a Friend.

Gold Coin – One side features the silhouette of a woman with long hair; the other features the silhouette of a man. The coin is clearly aged, but an inscription in Quori can still be read:
Beloved Cycles may be broken... Rules may be broken.

Hair Ornament – A small trinket once wound into hair. It is simple, yet gaudy at the same time: gold with jewels, though small and discrete. Where there is an absence of gems, there is an inscription in Infernal:
Death's embrace we seek to delay, but it's absence is a cold abyss.

The Final Parlor Visit

As you drift to sleep, your eyes open again. You stand in front of a small alcove flanked by brilliant gold-trimmed violet curtains, restrained by golden cords. Within the alcove, there is a parlor. Two plush purple and gold couches arranged opposite a gold-trimmed wooden coffee table in the middle. The faint scent of incense flows through the space. A single cup of tea rests on either side of the table. Although you see no one, the hair on the back of your neck rises. You are not alone here.

A voice echoes from one side of the table as a tea cup lifts into the air.
Apologies for my rude behavior on our last meeting. I do hope you are recovering well from you... visit with the Doctor.   Let us talk about Tatya. Such a brilliant mind. I do believe he might be my favorite. His memories of you are... well, shall we say you are the other half of his existence in many ways? Like the sun and moon.   I will offer you a deal. I will take some of your memories – memories of my choosing. In exchange, I will return all of Tatya's memories that I have taken, pristine and as they were.

Prism Talk

One rock pillar contains writing in Primordial:
A full spectrum of colors at the Painter's fingertips   And yet in all depictions, it is the same color he chooses.

  Another has writing in Aarakocra:
Long ago, the Huntress did cry and her tears struck the Earth   Now at night her tears spark; colors that light like the sun.

And the final is in a language lost to time, but Rani recognizes it:
Between the Stars and in the deepest earth beneath.   In vile hearts and the maw behind the teeth.   All that will come after and all that came before.   There when you sleep and when you wake… no more.
