Of Gods and Mortals

Throughout history, the gods have been known to clearly establish favorites amongst the mortals... as well as those they despised. Individuals who garnered the attention of a god - whether it be good or bad - were easily identified throughout historical texts and are still easily identified on the continent today. While much of it is symbolic, there are often benefits (or downfalls) of getting the attention of a god.   Blessed - an individual that has earned favor in the eyes of a god, their court, or their priests, priestesses, and acolytes. These individuals are welcomed amongst the communities of the god that has blessed them. All priests, priestesses, and acolytes are considered part of the Blessed of their respective god, but other individuals can become Blessed through a variety of means.   Chosen - An individual that has been elevated in standing in the eyes of a god, often gaining boons, abilities, and other privileges. The most note-worthy examples of Chosen individuals are the high Priests and Priestesses of each member of the pantheon. Proud warriors or champions of gods and goddesses - such as Ralla, the Warrior Queen of Ragna - are also considered among the Chosen.   Champion - An individual that was believed to possess abilities beyond mortal comprehension, bestowed directly upon them by the god or goddess to whom they followed. Some believed that they were elevated to divine status, while others claim that demi-god status was more fitting. Regardless, these individuals became vessels for some of the most powerful of divine abilities and represented their gods and goddesses during times of strife, war, or crises. While all of the gods and goddesses have members amidst their blessed and chosen, not all have had champions.   Beloved – An individual that is the reincarnated "other half" of a god or goddess. These souls were selected by The One for unknown reasons, though deities and mortals alike speculate. Each of the pantheon has a Beloved, or is believed to have one. Therarask, in particular, seems particularly invested in their Beloved.   Ire – An individual who has angered a god or goddess through an act of blasphemy or other horrendous act that violates the pillars or domains upon which the god or goddess in question stands. An individual that invokes ire can generally avoid the consequences by fleeing to another god's region and domain, but the deities of Dremora are clever. If their anger boils hot enough, they will find a way to enact vengeance, even if another deity intervenes...
