Ivelenis Birth Spell Spell in Dremlia [Old] | World Anvil

Ivelenis Birth Spell

Amongst Humans the Birth Spell is the most widely used spell, with even commoners consulting the help of mages to overcome infertility and with same-sex partners that desire a biological child. Some nobles deem it 'unnatural' to have a child by these means, and it has happened in the past where the legitimacy of heirs produced via this spell has been challenged in favor of naturally born children. In Elven culture the use of the Birth Spell is only by specific permission, overseen by the elders of the tribe, and in modern times is only given in specific circumstances. The Dwarves have nearly no use for this spell as their incredible fertility makes it almost too easy to have as many children as they desire and more.

Effect

The Ivelenis Birth Spell, or simply called the Birth Spell, is able to impregnate a female host with the genetic essence of two subjects, even those subjects are of the same-sex. A child born from this spell will have the genetic properties of both the subjects as if they had naturally produced an offspring. The genetics of the host mother has no effect over the infant's genetics.

Discovery

The spell was discovered by the ancient Elves, known as the Ivenel, who suffered from extreme infertility. The spell was used to increase the numbers of Elven population after they nearly faced extinction at the hands of the Humans.
