Treatment

There is no known cure for for crackling lung, not even magical methods of healing have been known to treat the illness, though it may lessen the symptoms. In most cases the affliction seems to go away on its own within two weeks to a month, though extreme cases may last for an entire season or more. Bed rest and avoidance of cold environments seem to help along the dissipation of the illness.

Prognosis

Most cases of crackling lung are non-fatal, especially in the mature and healthy. People of these conditions usually experience the mild discomfort of symptoms for the duration of the illness but are back to normal once the affliction has abated. Those with a weak constitution like the young, elderly, or all ready sick, are at an increased risk of fatality when contracting crackling lung. With how common the illness is, especially in the Northlands and other cold regions, crackling lung is one of the most common causes of death in the young and elderly.

Prevention

The best way to prevent the catching of crackling lung is to stay out of cold weather for prolonged periods of time, especially if damp or wet.

Epidemiology

At this time, it doesn't seem that crackling lung is able to spread between people.
