This scientist first outlines some of the evidence that DW is barriered against outer planes - first, the difficulty in traveling somewhere else. Second, the fact that banishment doesn't usually send someone away to their native plane, it sends them to a sort of limbo "elevator room." Then they point out that people are pulled into the plane quite easily by Aki, and then they hypothesize about Aki's reasons for such a thing. Theorists say that perhaps it's for protection against evils like demons or extrapalanar beasts that want to cause problems in our world. Others say that it's because Aki wants to consolidate power Whatever the cause, the scientists can pinpoint the mechanics - the separation is due to an energy barrier that they've measured and documented around the edges of the plane, and it takes significant energy, either through enchanted items or a high spell level, to overcome it. There's an account of one such scientist in recent years who did such a thing, went to hell, and came back. He says he did this with an elaborately constructed teleport boost module, but the module was broken by the travel.
