Third Downtime: Relax

Karinya is tired. She's tired of not really knowing the world she's in. She's tired of fighting monsters and going on quests for commoners. She's tired of helping people. She's tired of being tired. Karinya is ready for a break!   Karinya tells her roommate, "Next person who comes looking for my help, tell them to GET IN LINE!" She musters up almost all of the last bits of energy she can find within herself to march down to the first carpenter she finds to ask for some wood. She is willing to pay whatever price (within good reason) that is named. With the wood, Karinya plans to finally build her coffin, mount it on the ceiling, and SLEEP!

Journal Entry

Dear Diary,   It is now day 9,645,392 of this incessant, peasant-ish cultic chanting in my room, and I   Note to self: Do not write out loud with the lizard in the room.   This chanting nonsense has to stop. Some days, I feel like she is doing it on purpose to aggravate me. Other than that, though, she is a decent roommate. She respects my wishes, for the most part, to not be bothered when I am up on the ceiling, staring, into a corner. I hate to admit it, but maybe this vampire stuff is starting to grow on me.   I have been unable to find a way to make contact with my family since the mist brought me here. I do not know the current political climate of home. I do not know if anyone else from home has been sent here. This Strahd dude seems to have the bright idea of what is going on, but I am afraid to ask more. I would ask these housemates for ideas, but I must not show any further weakness than what I already have. Feyre and Des in particular seem to think I am a pitiful, thirsty being.   I am no closer to discovering the link between Vandir and this place, other than that apparently someone has been controlling the mist outside of Count Strahd's pleasure. I wonder if Vandir sent me here to get rid of me, in case I crash the party on his new chick or something. Maybe because trying to kill me didn't work? Or I could be completely wrong about all of his moments. The not knowing drives me insane.   I miss Mother and Father, though I cannot admit that to anyone. I wish I had stayed more in touch with them in my latter months back home. Perhaps one day I will see them again, and we can begin some real family healing. They were terrible parents, but they did at least try to work with my condition. They did make powerful allies though, no denying that, at least once they stopped totally hating each other. I hope they have truly reconciled to each other, especially with that pathetic Childea dead. It is hard to repent of her death. I'm sorry to whatever good higher power there may be, but it is difficult.   I better wrap this up. Life is short, and so is daylight. Better spend it well.

Second Downtime: Serving the Morninglord? (Religious Service)

Karinya is making progress in embracing her life as a dhampir. However, she feels the need to atone for some of the sins of her life in the past realm, particularly in nearly killing her mother. She is hesitant to donate any of her money, but feels that she has time to spare. She seriously doubts the existence of this...this Morning glory, Morning Sun, Morning Lord, whatever her scaly roommate keeps blabbering on and on about. But she knows that her friend...hmm, acquaintance? is in earnest to grow her Morninglord ministry, so Karinya decides to help out. In secret, of course. Karinya knows that she'd never hear the end of it if Rupta thought there was a even a smidgen of a chance to convert her.   Karinya waits for a time that she knows Rupta would be unlikely to pop into the temple...er, shack. Sorry Rupta, it just looks too much like a shack, she thinks to herself. She goes to pay a visit to Albert Munteanu at the temple, and simply expresses her desire to offer her services in cleaning, building, renovating, making repairs, landscaping, whatever handywoman services might be needed. "But don't tell the lizard!" she hisses between her teeth.

First Downtime: Get a Job, Girl!

After careful review of her personal finances, Karinya has had to finally admit to herself that though she carries with her the life experience of a noble, she no longer carries the resources, particularly gold. After much careful thought (and deciding she needs to get away from her roommate's incessant chanting and proselytizing), Karinya decides to find a job. Ugh, the horror of it all. Just like a commoner.   Karinya decides to seek a job with a local undertaker. Dead bodies are essentially perfume to her at this point, which she is slowly accepting as a fact of life. She is willing to build coffins, dig graves, move heavy gravestones, weed graveyards, any of the dirty, heavy stuff. She secretly hopes to procure a nice coffin to take home for a bed, but of course, her main priority is making a few coins.   In the event that there are no undertakers seeking hired help, Karinya's backup plan is to knock on business doors and simply ask if any help is needed. With all these people dying as of late, there has to be an opening somewhere!
