Commodore Yllonwen is marooned by a nuckelavee

During one of her first expeditions as Commodore, Princess Yllonwen's fleet was attacked and almost all of her ships sunk by a mysterious monster. In the process of escaping she came across a magical pool, from which she unknowingly stole a kernel of a Numen's power.

During one of her first expeditions as Commodore, Princess Yllonwen's fleet was attacked in the sea West of the Dratoran Isle. Almost all of her ships were wrecked by a monster beneath the waves, seemingly having come from Daemlaw. She was separated from her crew, very few of whom survived, and found herself marooned on a stack a fair way from the shore. Discarding her armour and relying on training and fitness alone, Yllonwen swam to shore, but not without being noticed. She made it onto the land, but to her horror the creature, a nuckelavee, followed her.
The demon hot on her trail, Yllonwen was driven to taking refuge in Notam Forest, where she could exploit the nuckelavee's weakness to fresh water. Eventually, after putting a number of fresh rivulet barriers between them, Yllonwen escaped the creature. In the process of fleeing, she stumbled across a pool in which to bathe and tend to her wounds. Barely conscious and clinging to life, she sank into the pool and let it revive her. Unbeknownst to her, the pool was the sacred home of a slumbering water Numen. The potent magic in the water awoke latent sorcerous abilities in Yllonwen and permeated her mortal flesh, giving her the slight aura of a Numen's touch.
On her long journey back to Narmor, Yllonwen had to steal to survive, descending to a place of pure instinct where morality was a luxury she could not afford.
