Musk Okra

Musk mallow, otherwise known as the father of musk, is an aromatic, tropical plant known for its medicinal properties. Despite its native distribution, musk mallow is capable of withstanding frosty conditions, and as such has been traded between settlements across Dratora.
Musk mallow is used in the production of perfumes, as well as being worn ornamentally. More practically, musk mallow seeds are used as livestock feed, added to coffee for flavouring, and its leaves and shoots can be eaten as vegetables. Book-makers occasionally use musk mallow as a glaze for making paper. It also has medicinal uses, and is used in the production of disease treatments and anti-paralysis poultices.
In most industries, from perfume production to alchemical concoctions, musk mallow can be substituted for deer musk as an ingredient.

History & Usage

Everyday use

Musk mallow is commonly worn ornamentally, eaten as a vegetable, or used as livestock feed. None of its magical, medicinal, or alchemical properties are easily accessible for the common Dratoran resident.

Manufacturing & Products

Musk mallow is typically used as a substitute for deer musk, making it a key ingredient in the creation of perfumes. It has also found use as a finishing agent for newly made paper.
Alchemists use musk mallow to brew ailment remedies, including the rather rare paralysis cure, but has also found more controversial use in the brewing of abortion draughts.

Hazards

Potions brewed from musk mallow can leave the imbiber sensitive to light. Furthermore, and potentially more catastrophically, some musk mallow concoctions have properties that abort foetuses, which can be a tragic side-effect if the consumer is unaware of this.
