History

Excruciating poison was initially discovered after a failure to brew purifying tonic infusion for a woman with an infected placenta. In a tragic turn of events, the concoction was steeped for too long, and the infusion produced was in fact excruciating poison. The woman was wracked with agonising pain, for which the alchemist was harshly held to account. Similar stories have been told of excruciating poison being brewed accidentally in place of healing potions.
