Cooling plasters are strips of fabric impregnated with a pale brown powder that gives off a strong, offensive odour. The plaster cools the wearer, helping them stave off intense heat whilst wearing it.

Manufacturing process

Cooling plasters are made by drying and pummelling fairy candle root until it leaves a dry mass of minute particles. The mass is then sprinkled over a strip of fabric and moistened enough to allow some seeping into the fabric. Lastly, sap or another adhesive is applied around the edges of the fabric to allow it to be stick to skin.
