Black Salve

Black salve is a cheap medicine which, when applied topically, kills infected cells and causes dead tissue, tumours, warts, and other growths to slough off. However, due to its caustic nature, it often damages the patient as it works. Through this property, escharotic black salve also found an audience amongst amateur assassins looking for a cheap alternative to conventional contact poisons.

When a creature makes contact with this brew they are subjected to the following effects:

• Cure any lingering natural diseases the creature has
• Damage appearance by 1d4 for 1hr
• Sustain 1d4 acid damage and 1d4 necrotic damage

Manufacturing process

Bloodroot is ground together with a thick oil base until well combined, and slowly diluted with more oil until the salve is formed.

History

Black salve initially served as a medicine designed to kill infected external tissue and fight ailments such cancers and growths. However, because of the damage it deals to the cells of its patients, escharotic black salve also gained popularity as a cheap contact poison.
