Manufacturing process

10 measures of dark opal and 2 measures of two worlds leaves are homogenised together with 4 measures of powdered lovestone wood and 1 measure of garlic juice. Moisten the mixture with saliva, and apply externally to the afflicted area. Bind the poultice in place with a strip of fabric if necessary.

Significance

Basilisk's venom antidote has acquired its highly specific name due to the fact that it is really only used to treat basilisk envenoming. For cases of milder poisoning or envenoming, the toxin can normally be neutralised using the cheaper antidotal tisane. In places where basilisks are not native, basilisk's venom antidotes cannot be readily purchased locally and are only brewed for the purposes of exportation to regions where basilisks do roam wild.
