Slavery

Slavery is alive in the Hadean world, much as it is in our world, now how much of that is in your game is between your Game Master and your players. But this page is to help with understanding the forms of Historical slavery that the Hadean World uses.
Indentured Servents: Many people get behind on debts, wish to move to an area they can't afford, or struggle to make ends meet. For those people you can sell yourself into Slavery, now this is not the slavery most modern minds think of, there was a contract of sort between the servent and the master, for they weren't true ownership of you, more a rental. The Servent would sell themselves to either pay off debts, or to gain a sum, they would then work or the master as per their skills, be it hard labour, accounting, farming, or what have you, and the goods of that labour would go to the Master for the payment of the debts owed. After that labour was given any other time was up to the Indentured Servent. Now the Servent could dig a hole deeper into det as they live off the land of the master, eat their food, and rent out their living space, but a savy Servant can scrape up the money to ay off their debts and once more gain their freedoms and no longer be in the position they were. Somecided to stay Slaves in this maner. Now because they were just rented goods the Master and Slave had a contract of sorts, wither written or traditional, were unless laws were broken and punisment was dealt that way the Master could not dole out unjust beatings, whippings, or even killings. The Master did not have a right to sell the Slave without the Slaves permission, as that would be a transfering of debts and rentals. Overall there were more protections for an Indentured Servent, even if this was one of the most common forms of slavery.
Chattel Slavery: These are the slaves that have no rights, being considered pure property owned. Again there are various ways of falling to chattel slavery. In wars and skirmishes soldiers and civilians can be swept up and gathered, and if their City States, Mercenary Lords, and Families don't pay the ransom then they are placed on auction or held by the soldiers that seized them as war claimes. Another form of falling into Chattel Slavery is the misfortune to be born into it from your mother. Now there are some communities and laws that allow a chattel slave to buy their way out of slavery by paying their ransom, or their prices.
