Marshmallow

Althaea Officinalis

Triangular leaves grow out in bunches from the central stem as five petalled white flowers blossom with deep red middles.
Water boiled with marshmallows can be used as a substitute for egg whites. The Roots when peeled have a sweet candied flavour. The leaves and flower buds make a mix of onions and butters as a solid meal.   Water boiled with marshmallow and allowed to cool can be used as a mouth wash, or gargle, for the use against ulcers.
