This newt like creature will crawled into the mouth of a sleeping victim, then slide into their stomach, where they will devour a good portion of the food the victim eats, causing starvation and exhaustion.
One of the known ways of removing an Alp-luachra is to devour very salty foods, and drinking no water, lie down with your mouth open next to a stream or lake. The thirsty Alp-Luachra will crawl from the victims mouth to get a drink from the stream.
