At the height of the Hegemony, humans had made significant progress in arcane, scientific and industrial knowledge. Hegemonic society had begun its own version of an industrial revolution, based not on fossil fuels but on arcane-influenced electrical devices. Hegemonic arcanologists understood the germ theory of disease and were actively studying astronomy up until the DragonFall. Following the Sundering, most of the industrial capacity has been lost to humanity – there simply is not enough room or resources to support large scale production. However, most of the knowledge base has been maintained. Some infrastructure does survive. Notably, the cities of the Seven Sisters and Four Brothers, and the oldest areas of most city-states have functioning power grids. The Seven Sisters also maintain some small fleets of flying ships. Most technological and alchemical development in the city states has been directed at food production, sewage treatment and other necessary processes for surviving under permanent siege.
