Fae

In legends, Fae came into being when certain Kami resented their immobility, and took on physical forms. However, to make that happen, they were forced to invent Time. The most powerful Fae were called the Immortal Court, and had the favor of certain gods. These gods shared with the Immortal Court the power to create a new spiritual plane that is attached to the material plane. These beings created the Wode, or FaeWilde. Prior to the birth of humanity, the only antagonists of the Fae were the giants and other Fae with conflicting natures. When humanity was new, the Fae courted their younger cousins and helped to shape some of them. The humans that spent a great deal of time in the Wode associating with the Fae became a true-breeding derivative of humanity called Elves. After the ascendancy of humanity, most elves and even those gods who loved the Fae eventually chose to favor humans over the Fae. During the rise of the Hegemony, the gods assisted humanity in displacing the Fae over all the lands of Atheron. The Fae fought their own war with the dragons during the DragonFall, suffering defeats and gaining victories. All truly immortal Fae were destroyed alongside the gods at the Sundering. In modern times, there are three general categories of Fae creatures; Celestial Fae, Wilding Fae, and Shadow Fae.   Celestial Fae Celestial Fae are creatures devoted to Asha - maintaining the balance of nature and nature’s part in spiritual realm. Such beings celebrate reincarnation, growth, natural death, joy in being alive. Such beings may be allied with celestial beings, and may reside or visit Celestium. Celestial Fae do typically accept the concept of eternal justice, but prefer reincarnation over some sort of punishment.   Wilding Fae Wilding Fae live entirely in the moment - they are driven exclusively by their (usually mercurial) emotional state. Wildings pass between the natural world and the FaeWilde without even knowing. These beings are often short-lived and frequently dangerous in their capriciousness.   Shadow Fae Shadow Fae are Fae creatures that have attuned or embraced the realm of the Shadow Realm. While they are bound by the natural order, they still seek to break it to their own advantage. Often intelligent and almost universally power-seeking, shadow Fae are usually actively antagonistic to humans. Intelligent Shadow Fae may or may not be consciously aware they are Druje. Shadow Fae believe that the Hegemony’s repression of the Wode is responsible for the creation of the Shadow plane. Because the Shadow plane can be used to transit to the Abyss, Shadow Fae can have relatively easy truck with infernal beings. Despite occasional infernal alliances, Shadow Fae still abhor the undead.
