DragonFall

Created by

D&D 5e game world. Dragons are the first born race and masters of the land. Most nations are ruled directly or by proxy by a dragon overlord. World politics revolve around draconic intrigues and attempts to regain the lost power of Shaping.   In ages past, long before the modern mortal races rose to power, the dragons were as gods upon the face of the world. Tasked by their makers to shape the world, literally raising mountains and moving rivers, or altering the course of the seas, the First Born reveled in creativity and deific immortality. That was until they grew too populous and nearly destroyed the world in their squabbles. Their makers could not abide the destruction and removed the power of Shaping.   Dragons slept in their despair. Ages passed and some awoke to find new life amidst their lands. The elder races of elves, dwarves, and more had come to rise in their slumber. Some sought to guide these races, hoping to teach them to avoid the folly which befell dragonkind. Others sought to enslave and destroy the lesser races. The immortal dragons did not know death then, nor what these "lesser" races were truly capable of, or what their spirits were made from, until their hubris caused a war so great that the gods were born, from the very power dispersed in the loss of their own Shaping.   The Gods' War raged on until the world was nearly destroyed again. And again, the elder powers took power away... from dragonkind and the gods. The dragons became mortal, and a veil was set to separate the gods from the world. The dragons slept again for ages. Newer races arose and populated the world. When the dragons awoke, they were not the same as they once were. Petty jealousy and rage filled their hearts, even those who would still guide the lesser races never forgot the pain of their fall.   In their newfound mortality, their own history has fallen to simple myth and legend. The new race of dragons grew overpopulated and now contend with other mortals and each other for simple resources and survival. A Third Great Dragon War looms on the horizon, and it's threat is felt in every corner of the world.
